‘From high resolution EM in the Biozentrum to high resolution chromatography at Novartis, a family, three children and still further’ I never planned to go to Novartis. I wanted to be a professor. At university, we used to call industry ‘The dark side’ and made Darth Vader noises with an empty plastic cup. Then, after I had finished my PhD in Biophysics at the Biozentrum, a former ETH colleague called and asked, if I was interested in a Lab Head position in the Novartis Biotech department. I was not interested, but curious enough to go and take a look. That was 16 years ago.
